Love is Menacing:
Some say love is sweet
some say love is kind
unselfish, unconditional,
sometimes it's even blind
exotic, erotic,
an expensive waste of time
the stuff of poems and verse and sonnets
and all those things that rhyme
but I say love is menacing
and if you let me bend your ear
I'll tell you why
yes I say love is menacing
its predatory appetites
cannot be denied
Like a moth is drawn to open flame
and pretty girls to early graves
love is drawn to easy prey
just like you and me
it slices and it dices
it takes you hostage in its crisis
even when it's feeling fine
it's just one of its shrewd disguises
oh never turn your back upon it
never let your guard fall down
or you'll wind up in a shallow grave
on the outskirts of your town
because you never know what's
coming around its corner

what it has in store
no you never know what's
lurking in its darkness
or what lies buried in its crawlspace
underneath the floor
like a villain with a moustache
waiting by the tracks
love is busy in the shed
sharpening its axe
for a tri-state serial killing spree
when love prepares the menu
